ETL & DATA VENDOR MANAGEMENT

PROBLEM

The problem with ETL monitoring today is that it deals with multiple sources of data ingestion and data vendors. In many cases, the data that is ingested has formatting issues which can be inaccurate with partially missing data leading to dataset publishing failures. As well as data being ingested out of office hours. Typically, firms will use an ETL defined processes to ingest all of this data into their database repository. Whilst many ETL processes are capable of alerting these errors, contacting the venders and identifying the specific resolution requires manual intervention.

SOLUTION

To optomise ETL efficiency whilst analyzing common ETL failures and maturing these processes to ensure successful ingestion and loading.

  • We do this by 24/7 monitoring of all the ETL ingestion and loading processes, liaising with the data vendors and troubleshooting the root cause in order to ensure a successful ingest and load occurs each and every time.
  • Vendor management requires us to raise individual tickets on each issue with each vender and ensure that tickets are closed in a timely fashion.
Our ETL teams are well versed with a clear understanding of what the data means/is and therefore can distinguish between accurate and inaccurate data resulting in successful ingest/loads but also accurate data processing.
  • We have a defined set of data checks that is executed on all ingested data increasing accuracy and reducing time to resolve it needed.
  • We act as an extension of your team representing your firm with each data vendor and work closely with your internal teams as one.

OUTCOME

Fully managed ETL process, with data accuracy SLA’s on each process ensuring timely resolution with the addition of reduced overhead cost.
